I believe that students and situations are varied and are unique to the situations in class.
You'll notice that my classroom rules are broad but cover a large range of situations.
1. Don't be a problem for others -
2. Take care of our studio-
3. Behave like an artist- try new things, be creative and keep moving forward if you make a mistake.
If any of the above rules are broken I tell students that "I will do something". The consequence will be a logical one and will depend on the severity of the situation.
I follow the school wide discipline procedures, including first give students a warning either verbal or non-verbal, ask students what level of behavior they are on and allow them to fix it. If the problem persists I will send them to my recovery zone ( a table away from everyone else that allows them to think about the problem and cool down if needed.) There they will fill out a think time if they problem continues I will call or email the parents and have them work on the problem with me. My last resort after doing all this will be sending them to the principals office and having them work something out.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about any of my policy's
